COVID-19: Resources For Students

GW Dining has been working closely with our 105+ dining partners to gather the most up to date information on operating status. In addition, GW Dining has compiled resources below for students to help navigate grocery shopping, emergency readiness, dining out and delivery options.

GW Dining will continue to monitor reopening plans and require all GWorld merchants to adhere to the CDC guidelines, District of Columbia Phase Guidelines, and GW Public Health Guidelines.

Dining Partner Operations

Contactless Food Options 

GW Dining has partnered with Whole Foods, Grubhub, and Healthy Fresh Meals to bring meal and grocery delivery to students.

    • You can now order groceries online with Whole Foods!

    • GW Dining has developed a 200+ item grocery list that students can order from and get groceries delivered directly to residence halls or for pick-up at Whole Foods.

    • Access Grubhub's entire network of restaurants and food service locations on campus and beyond.

Grocery Shopping 

Grocery shopping is a pillar of the GW dining program. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it is critical that students have adequate ways to grocery shop safely. Our greatest priority is the safety of our students, below you will find points to consider when grocery shopping in person. 

When grocery shopping keep in mind the following precautions: 

  1. Stay home if you are feeling sick. Use online services to acquire groceries. 

  2. Prepare a Shopping List Before Hand. Buy groceries for 1-2 weeks at a time. Buying more than you need can contribute to unnecessary demand and temporary shortages.

  3. Wear a face covering or mask while shopping. Ensure that your face covering or mask completely covers your mouth and nose.

  4. Practice physical distancing while shopping. Maintain 6ft from others and be sure to follow directional arrows throughout the store to reduce contact with other shoppers.

  5. Wash your hands with warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds after you get home and put away your groceries. 


Dining Out 

To ensure the safety of the entire GW Community, students, staff, faculty, GWorld merchants and community members are required to abide by the GW Committment to Health & Wellbeing. Below are precautions that should be taken while dining out. 

  • Stay Home. 

    • If you are expierencing symptoms or have been exposed to someone who has tested positive, please refrain from dining out.  

    • Use the delivery food options to safely acquire food during isolation. 

    • Think before you go - dining out increases risk of transmission and infection. 

  • Wear a face covering at all times. 

    • Face masks are required at all times unless actively eating or drinking. 
  • Practice physical distancing at all times. 

    • Follow all directional signs and distancing marking throughout the restaurant. 

Emergency Readiness 

Students are encouraged to stock food, especially non-perishable items, and personal items in the event that you are unable to leave your unit for any period of time.
